With the beginning of the summer season, albeit not officially yet, there is a slew of events, festivals, and tours that are kicking off this weekend in Western NY. We have a great capacity to showcase the versatility and beauty of our region, and during the summer–well lets just say it makes up for the winters. Here are some great festivals and tours taking place this weekend.
The Seventh Annual Lewiston Region Tour of Kitchens and Homes takes place today and tomorrow–June 6 and 7, 2015. Get an up close and personal look inside of five of the area’s most fabulous homes and their creative entertaining spaces. Located in Lewiston and Youngstown, each home is uniquely distinct in style, tradition and décor. Each home–and by extension its entertaining space, will be paired with a restaurant and chef who will prepare samplings of their signature dishes. Each kitchen tablescape has been designed by local retailers and artists.
With full sunshine in the forecast and seventy degree weather, this tour is a fun, food friendly event that will get you inspired to renovate, rejuvenate or simply dream about fabulous entertaining spaces and the food that can be prepared in them!
This weekend kicks off the first of many summer food festivals in Buffalo NY with the 37th Annual Greek Fest. Your entire family can experience the beautiful diversity of the people of the Greece region; settling in Buffalo and blessing us with their amazing delicacy, and rich ethnic foods. Acquaint yourselves with the Greek Orthodox Church, which is where the festival is held and a pillar to the people of the community. Step into the Greek culture and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the Greek living. With music and dance, this is a great start to the summer season.
The Lewiston Culinary Tour is a narrative 3 hour walking tour that allows you to taste different foods with drink pairings as well as learning interesting historical facts about the Village of Lewiston. Suitable for all age groups, you’ll experience the best restaurants the area has to offer from one-of-a-kind specialty food stores and family run restaurants to “from scratch” eateries. You’ll also leave the tour learning some new culinary knowledge that you can bring back to your own kitchen.
If the north towns are a bit to far for you, East Aurora offers an eclectic narrative walking tour this weekend as well, where you can experience the diversity and amazing food scene of the East Aurora region. Check out The Roycroft Inn, beautiful Knox Farm and rich Mexican, french, and American cuisine offered in this area. Each walking tour is $49.00 and location is determined upon arrival. Each tour is part of the Buffalo Bites Food tours that kick off this weekend and run through the summer.
