As a young girl, I wrote stories about pet pigs and talking dogs. I wrote on pink paper lined in blue. I wrote in diaries; about my feelings, my anxieties, feeling out of place, crushes, dreams, whatever came to mind. The fact is–I wrote, often, and without reservation.
As an adult, I found myself wanting to help people, and for me that meant going into the field of Social Work. I wanted to make a difference, change lives. However, I never stopped writing. I wrote at night, on lunch breaks, whenever I could find free time. Eventually a story started percolating in the back of my mind–a story of a young girl who is dealing with a mother’s mental illness and a father’s untimely death. It morphed into this rich story of a young woman trying to make her own way in the world, and not confident at all in who she is and her place in the world. In finding love and friendship, she starts to find happiness, but slowly realizes things are not what they seem–and may never have been. It’s this journey and the path she is now forced to face that allows our heroine to truly find herself. This is Finding Morgan and it’s a story that melts together real world issues like anxiety and low self-esteem with the rich fictional world of the Arthurian Legend, magic, friendship, love, and adventure.
I had put away the idea of publishing this story, but the story never left me. And, I’m glad it didn’t, because now you get to read this wonderful adventure. In Finding Morgan, the story is just beginning. There is more to come in book 2–out March 2020.
Just like Morgan, my path has bobbed and weaved, and I found myself lost at times, lacked confidence at times, felt scared at times, but found my way. My only wish is to write great stories that connect and resonate with you the reader, and give you something to hope for, root for, and maybe find a part of yourself in the characters. I’m thrilled to share this novel with you. Thank you for reading it!
